Maith sibh go léir!

Well Done everyone!
G-Day was everything we had hoped for and a lot more!
Cinnte, it was helped by the sunniest day of the year so far, but what impressed most was the general willingness to speak Irish and enjoy it.
The day went off without any serious hitches, with huge turnouts for the Farmers' Market and coffee morning in the Square, the historical walking tour, and Picnic na dTeidí, as well as for the Duck Races. Volunteers encouraged locals and visitors to use cúpla focal in whatever way they could, and there were few who couldn't take up the challenge - all those who couldn't grew up elsewhere.
Even those with no Irish were willing to learn a few words - my favourite moment of the day was when Irina Wilmot (from Angola via Portugal) taught a Nigerian woman to say "Go raibh maith agat"!
Bhí an-sparaoi ag gach duine, agus bhain siad sult as úsáid an Ghaeilge.
All in all, G-Day was a victory not just for the Irish language, but for the community. The spirit of shared effort for a common goal made for a wonderful atmosphere, one that will help when it comes to the next stage of the competition!
