The G-Team in Sixmilebridge is a gathering of people interested in developing usage of the Irish language in the community, spurred on by the competitive element of the TG4 G-Team programme. (See below) Anybody in or with an interest in Sixmilebridge is welcome, nay encouraged to join in. We need people who can and who can't speak Irish - an interest in the language is more important than fluency. We also need ideas, sponsorship, and people who are willing to do a little bit to keep the momentum going, and help everybody use their cúpla focal. Suíomh dhá-theangach é seo - We'll do our best to do everything in both Irish agus Béarla! ‘An G-Team’ is a new 10-part series on TG4 that will feature non-Irish speaking communities from all over Ireland and challenge them to begin using their national tongue in their daily routines. After hard work by a few local people at very short notice, Sixmilebridge was selected as one of the twelve finalists to take part in the programme. A committee was formed, and more work ensued! The series will be filmed from now for the next few months, and will be broadcast in ten episodes from January, culminating in the live final in March.
